Set under a natural makuti, our relaxed, open-air restaurant offers sea views and lush tropical flowers. Our menu selection specialises in authentic Swahili Kitchen, using traditional methods and ingredients in the preparation of memorable meals. Seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes are available.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served by our friendly, English speaking staff.

"Bar under the Palms" has been built around beautiful coconut palm trees creating a cool and relaxed space to enjoy our selection of home made juices, cocktails, a well stocked selection of wine, champagne and spirits.

Because Mchanga Beach Lodge (Mchanga is Kiswahili for "sand") is at sea level and not set on a coral reef, our exceptionally beautiful white powder sandy beach allows for excellent and safe swimming.

Set between the restaurant and "Bar under the Palms" is our 13 m, sweet water, sea facing pool. Traditional beach beds and cushions are available to place wherever you like between the pool and the sea.

Three charming beach Bandas nestled in the dunes offer shade, sea breezes and views of Mnemba Island and the outer edges of Zanzibar's coral reef.

There is a boccia/boulle pit.
We offer a semi-enclosed reading/games corner.
Next to the office is an eclectically stocked shop including one -off pieces sourced in Zanzibar.
