Set under makuti, our relaxed, open-air restaurant offers a natural setting in which to enjoy Mchanga Beach Lodge's menus of the day. Mchanga Beach Lodge specialises in authentic traditional Swahili cuisine using traditional methods and the freshest local ingredients in the preparation of memorable meals. Seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes are available daily.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served by our friendly, English speaking staff.

Mchanga Beach Lodge’s cozy "Bar under the Palms" has been built around beautiful coconut palm trees, creating an intimate, cool and relaxed space to enjoy our selection of home made juices, cocktails, wines, champagne and spirits. Learn to play ‘BAO’ with our friendly bartenders.

Because Mchanga Beach Lodge (Mchanga is Kiswahili for "sand") is at sea level and not set on a coral reef, our exceptionally beautiful white powder sand beach allows for excellent and safe swimming year round.

Set between the restaurant and "Bar under the Palms" is our 13-metre, sea-facing, fresh water swimming pool. Traditional Swahili beach beds and cushions make relaxing easy.

Three charming beach Bandas nestled in the dunes offer shade, sea breezes and views of Mnemba Island and the outer edges of Zanzibar's coral reef.

Mchanga Beach Lodge also offers internet connectivity.(not wi-fi)

Other facilities include a boulle court, guest library, a small, eclectically stocked shop including one-off pieces sourced in Zanzibar.

We will gladly assist with any arrangements for transfers between Mchanga Beach Lodge, the Airport and Stonetown including any excursions and tours that our guests would like to undertake such as Spice Plantation Tours, Stonetown Historical Tours, Jozani Forrest Tours and Prison Island Tours. Safari Blue can be also arranged through our office as well as luxury catamaran sailing and snorkeling and/or diving trips to Mnemba Atoll with One Ocean PADI Dive Centre/Matemwe. Free transfers are available between Mchanga Beach Lodge to the One Ocean Dive Centre in Matemwe.
